the couples went to simpang bedok to try out the new raved about sedap corner. chef bob or more well known as chef skuter is one of the chef dere.
the place and even the carpark was packed to the brim when we came at about 9pm, forgetting that its friday nite. so we had to park amongst the private houses and walk a distance.
when we finally got seats, got the menu, we had a hard time deciding wat to eat. chef bob was the ultra friendly to take the time to recommend some dishes.
but we were super kiasu about trying out the new stuffs that we ordered four plates of toast accompanied by four different flavors of kaya: jackfruit, vanilla, green tea & chocolate, as starters. the vanilla kaya got to be the tastiest while i didnt reali like the green tea kaya. chef bob was again nice enuf to pack up for us the kaya-s that we didnt finish. each order of toast with kaya cost $2.90.
we got our main course shortly after. i ordered thai belacan rice which cost around $10.90 & Hubby had the phad thai (rice noodle) which cost $7.90 (i think). me & Hubby also had smoothies which cost $4.90 each.
can i frankly just the say that the food was just ok lah. and price was quite a teeny weeny steep. $10.90 for a plate of chicken rice. and the amount was also a teeny weeny small. my thai belacan rice was ok lah. tasted sweet. i would have liked it better if it was spicier, more sourish since there were mango strips. it was more of like eating rice with ayam kicap. while Hubby’s phad thai was lacking in taste. quite bland. my mango smoothie was nice while Hubby’s pineapple smoothie didnt taste of pineapple and more on the milk, much to Hubby’s dismay.
we spend around $21 per person for the whole dinner. but i kind of expected more on the taste. dont tink i would be going there for a 2nd round unless somebodi wanna treat me to free dinner. i give sedap corner @ simpang bedok 3 stars, moreĀ on the friendly service.
next stop will be mad jack @ simpang bedok.
