the aftermath

where do i start?

yes, the wedding.

was dat my dream weddding? i would say nope but it was perfect for me neva the less. it turned out like how i wanted, simple but elegant and satisfying. and most importantly it made my beloved parents and family super happy. i even got the selengerz geng together. dats like a wow accomplishment.

so overall, i was super happy wif everiting. syukur alhamdulilah.

okie, lets start wif the pre wedding i.e. the services that ive engaged for the big day.

mak andam = chinta wedding

got two suits from them which i wore on sunday’s sanding at hubby’s haus. one yellow songket and a black dress. the yellow songket was customised for us so we got to keep it and do wat wif it? im not reali sure. hehe.

lurve the songket but i tink we chose the wrong color. yellow didnt compliment us both one bit. so one mistake dere. shld have chosen anoder color, mayb orange or pink.

the black suit was betta. i reali liked hubby wearing a striped suit,wif his aviator sunglass and me wearing a mexican-like-dancer dress. onli complain about the black dress, it was so damn fitting, i thot i would die of breathelessness first time trying it on. but it got betta on the actual day since i wore a corset and a girdle. hehe.

one ting, had i known chinta had so damn limited big size dress for biggies like me, i would have juz tailored anoder dress wif dem, rather then torturing myself trying to fit me into their one-size fit all dresses.

anoder ting, i actuali tried on the black dress 3 days before the wedding. wasnt dat like so last minute thing? not dat i requested for it to happen dat way, but as requested by the pak andam, to try it on 3 days before the wedding. so dats why, die die i juz had to settle for the black dress altho i wasnt dat comfy in it. i tink, if we had been given the opportunity to try it on way earlier, i could have done somting about it.

and the makeup. i lurve the makeup for the saturday nikah but didnt reali like the makeup done for sunday. while the saturday makeup was gorgeous and made me all pwetty, the sunday makeup made me look so garang. especially the yellow songket. looking at the pixs again, i reali dont look pwetty on sunday. i looked like i was gonna eat my guests up. hehe.

and one more thing, altho their service was great, the people were friendly, the mak andam was helpful and easy to talk to, but one complain, many times i had to call them up to confirm appointments or enquire about the suits. rather then them taking the initiative to call me up and confirming stuffs with me. so it felt like it was juz always me calling them up. somtimes it made me feel like an unimportant bride-to-be.

i paid $1,500 for 2 days makeup and two suits. i’d give chinta wedding 8/10.

next, baju nikah (green) = maniq at tanjong katong complex

wore this green baju for nikah and whole day thru for the sanding at my haus on saturday. lurve the baju and the color. went so well wif the green theme. suits were comfy and well tailored. i felt good wearing the green suit.

the suits were great. but service wise wasnt. and the price too.

lets start with the price. it began wif my mom falling in love with the green cloth so she decided to sponsor our baju nikah and took da package for me. the package, costing $650, included a pair of wedding suit, and two or three (not sure) more additional items such as shoes, handbag etc.

but after getting all dat items, we needed to add some items to make the set complete like tudung, shoes, songkok, samping etc. and all dat added on to the actual costs. until even the lining of my green kebaya sleeves was additional cost and hubby songket lining on his baju kurung added on to dat cost.

from a $650 package, the cost added up to nearly $1,100!! and to tink i could have gotten two more customised suits from chinta for dat kind of price. i was kinda of pissed about dis, coz to me the package stated dat i would get two complete suits, as in including the lining, so i was pissed dat i had to fork out xtras. but the big day was nearing and i didnt want to add on to my stress over xtra costs. i juz wanted to get the completed suits and get the hell out of dere.

and dere were some delays upon receiving the suits until i had to make so many trips down to the shop. lagi teruk, i lived in the west, was in the afternoon shift, busy wif tusyen and wif no transportation of my own. i tink i went down to the shop around 5 or 6 times. to measure baju once, to measure shoe size once, to collect my kebaya wifout bustier and hubby’s baju wifout pants once, den anoder two more times coz songkok size was wrong, den again to collect veil once. and one time, i even came down to collect the bustier and pants but the tailor forgot to bring it to the shop. so i came down for nuthing.

so i dont tink im eva gonna engage maniq’s service again. way damn expensive and so so service. i’d give maniq 6/10.

next, catering = haji abu catering

a fellow blogger recommended it to me. caterer related to her. but im so thankful dat she recommended dem to me and my family. coz the people were so friendly and the services were great. not forgetting the food were smacking delicious too. they were precise and took good care of everyting. even the kendarat under them wore uniforms.

no complaints here. altho they were a little bit xpensive but my parents paid for quality and quantity. for friday nite makan and saturday event, it cost about 8K plus.

i’d give them 9.5/10

next, photos = themephotography

photos came out great altho they didnt meet my high expectations of them. high expectations coz we paid a very high price for theme service. for 250 pixs, 1 coffee table album, 1 big frame and 1 small frame, we paid $1,850. yep, so damn xpensive i know.

we nearly didnt engage them coz of the price but i didnt want to regret not getting them and den settle for somting way cheaper but i wouldnt be happy with the quality. so we took them in the end.

photographer, jumat, was good. friendly. made us feel comfy. so the two days went smoothly.

but after collecting the 250 pixs album only and making the full payment, we didnt hear from them again about the coffee table album, the big and small frame till i had to call him up myself last week. hubby commented dat we shouldnt have made full payment till we got every single thing that we paid for coz they kind of poofed after dat.

i’d give themephotography 8/10.

next henna = saheli bridal

did my henna on friday nite. cost $150. should have done it on thursday nite instead. i loved my henna altho some people didnt. altho it looked kind of over the top but hey, wen am i eva gonna put on dat kind of henna eva again? once in i my life time. so mite as well i get somting ive wanting.

but it was such a pity it only lasted for around a week plus. coz after snorkelling in the redang sea and den the tioman sea, most of the henna disappeared bcoz of the salt water. onli the henna on the nail is still half intact.

service was ok. no complaints. the poor girl who did my henna was xhausted coz after finishing mine at about 11pm, she had to henna 5 others of my cousins and relatives till over 12 midnite.

next, deco and dais = krystal wedding

the hands responsible for making the drabby void deck into a beautiful i-cant-believe-dats my-void-deck heaven. the deco turned out betta den i xpected. so im grateful for dat. and the owners were kind enuf to add a few stuffs dat wasnt in my package. i paid $1,300 for the deco and dais.

but….i actuali did my booking in january 2006. way way early. saw their simple but elegant deco, i signed up wif them. but around middle of 2006, i thot $1,300 for deco was way too xpensive and called the owner up requesting for a downgrade but kind of got chided for requesting as such. and the owner promised to call me back as at the time i called him up, he was wif a customer.

so i waited and waited. he didnt call. and i got so busy wif work as usual. and got lazy too. and i xpected him to call me, not me call him again. i started looking around for other deco services. half a year passed and still no call. but not wanting to forfeit my $300 deposit with them, i called them up and stayed with the package.

nasib baik dey did a wonderful job for my wedding. i simply lurve the apple green. i’d gif dem 8.5/10.

hhhmmm wat else? let me tink and add on tomoro. DJ, kadi, kompang, room, berkat and wedding card, cupcake, bunga pahar and bantal nikah etc. all dese are my sincere opinions and my experiences with these service providers. so no hard feelings and if you tink otherwise, hey, i have no right over your opinions. and wif no intention of showing off, juz thot of sharing and guiding dose brides-to-be on their pre-wedding journey. hope it helps!
